This is our 20th year in business.

David Hoskins started out with one van, 8 canoes, and 12 kayaks.  In 2003, he bought the property where we are currently located and set about restoring the old building to house the young outfitting company. In 2012 the Dan River Company moved into a newly constructed smaller building on the property making room for the original riverside facility to become The Green Heron Alehouse in 2013.

From that small start in 2001 the Dan River Company has become the premier river outfitter in the Piedmont and the only river outfitter based Stokes County. The Dan River Company has worked with Fortune 100 companies, elite private schools, top universities, and adventurous families from all over the world for nearly 15 years. We focus on what we do best. We rent canoes and kayaks on the Dan River.  We do one thing, and we do it very well. 

Our staff is the best in the business. We are all friendly and willing to go the extra mile to make your day great. We know the river well having spent countless hours ourselves on the water. Many of our staff members are experienced with everything from big whitewater, to downriver racing, to wilderness flat water tripping.
